Die Dramatische Bühne

This summer, the wonderful Dramatische Bühne is presenting plays from over 30 years of open-air festivals - from "Nosferatu" to "Mary Stuart". The vision is a revival of the ludicrous, foolhardy theatrical dream as it has been dreamed since Shakespeare's time: Stories full of silliness and profundity at the same time, rich in costume, scenery and (lazy) theatrical magic, the splendor and wretchedness of comedy and sleaze theater, endearingly old-fashioned, hackneyed and glorious at the same time.

Apprentice perfumer Valnouille, blessed with a sense of smell refined a thousand times over, is apprenticed to the ageing Maitre Valdiani and dreams of creating the perfect perfume whose scent will make him a godfather. In order to obtain the ingredients, he murders innocent young maidens at night and extracts the precious ingredients from them. But in order to obtain the last, the 13th essence, he would have to kill Madame Valorette, the only being he has ever loved. This symphony of fragrances, this ethereal air of vaporous breath and volatile ether, is created in an absolute theater of all the senses: In order to create this composition of scents, fragrance essences are repeatedly sprayed during the play, the public (if it wants to!) has the dubious honor of being included in the play. Blindfolds are put on, during love scenes you are caressed (within the bounds of propriety!), you are chastized if the murderer is consumed by remorse, whipped himself, msn is tickled, maltreated and tortured.

It is requested to appear appropriately washed but unscented. Unwashed and non-players are also tolerated in the back ranks.

The open-air area is located in the northern part of the park, near the Orthodox Church, right next to the memorial obelisk of the Rothschild Palace.
