Trombonist and composer Shannon Barnett comes from Australia and moved to Germany in 2014 to play in the famous WDR Big Band. Active in the Cologne scene, she founded the quartet of top-class improvisers from the German jazz scene just one year later, which has existed in this composition ever since: with Stefan Karl Schmid on tenor sax, David Helm on double bass and Fabian Arends on drums. In 2023, the quartet released the album 'Alive at Loft' (Klaeng Records) with interpretations of some favorite pieces from the jazz canon, recorded live at Loft Cologne. The Shannon Barnett Quartet has benefited from playing together for years. Together they travel through Barnett's compositions, combining influences from many different genres.
