I saw peace coming - musical reading at the Kulturhaus Frankfurt - 2for1-Tickets
On May 8, the anniversary of the end of the war, the focus will be on songs, poems and texts from three centuries against war and expulsion, which are once again sadly topical. Poems by Erich Kästner, Ingeborg Bachmann, Wolfgang Borchert and others will be performed. There will also be songs by the group Zupfgeigenhansel, whose songs were and are part of the peace movement, such as their song "Ich bin Soldat, doch bin ichs nicht gern".
In the song "Andere, die das Land so sehr nicht liebten", which deals with the expulsion of Jews during the Nazi era, you can feel what persecution and expulsion does to people. This song from the album "Hommage an Zupfgeigenhansel" by Matthias Almstedt and Tina Kuhn reached number 1 on the Liederbestenliste, the TOP 20 of German singer-songwriters, in September 2024 and their album "Hommage an Zupfgeigenhansel" was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award.
75 minutes of thoughtful, profound but also encouraging minutes against war and expulsion.
