Ovid's Metamorphoses are a collection of Greco-Roman myths and probably the most fascinating and momentous piece of European literature. People transform themselves into animals, plants, stones or constellations as punishment or consolation. Insatiable desire causes gods to take on other forms. Everything in this world is subject to constant change. With touching music and poetic texts, "Il Pianto della Madonna" encourages us to pause, reflect and empathize in our constantly agitated times. Alternating with sublime vocal and instrumental music by Claudio Monteverdi and others, performed by the internationally renowned baroque ensemble lautten compagney with soprano Pia Davila, actress Corinna Harfouch recites texts from Ovid's Metamorphoses in an intense production.

Corinna Harfouch is one of the most important stage and film actors in Germany and has already received the following awards, among others: Bavarian Film Award, Adolf Grimme Award, German Television Award, German Film Award, German Acting Award, Günther Rohrbach Award and Hessian Film Award.

Pia Davila is a versatile singer who, in addition to her highly esteemed concert repertoire and church music, enjoys performing world premieres, new forms of music theater and new ideas.

The lautten compagney BERLIN under the direction of Wolfgang Katschner is one of the most renowned and creative German baroque ensembles. It has been setting unique musical accents with concerts, opera performances and crossover projects since 1984 and is one of the few independent producers of music theater projects in Germany.
