The hand of the princess is the worthwhile prize of the singing war of the heath hares proclaimed by the king. But the Minister of Song has his own plans to make as much profit as possible from the competition. He sells the victory for one hundred thousand Lampedor to the old, fat director Wobbly Ears. After all, he is the one who will count the judges' votes. But the supposedly easy game threatens to fail, because the rabbit Lodengrün has a beautiful voice and is also young and handsome - making him the perfect husband for the princess. When the singing competition begins, all the singers perform one after the other. Only Lodengrün is missing - he has overslept! Someone has adjusted his sundial. Is it really all right? Or are the Minister and Director Wobbly Ears in on it?
