KOKUBU - one of the biggest drum shows in the world takes the audience on a magical journey through Japan between artistic drum storms and delicate bamboo flute sounds. The acclaimed Japanese taiko combo thrills audiences with furious rhythms and powerful athleticism in its new show "Sound of Life". Japan, the land of the rising sun, as it is also known in this country, has always exerted a strong fascination. The fascination lies mainly in the striking differences between a high-tech nation and an empire with centuries-old traditions. The latter corresponds to the cultural style of KOKUBU.

Their impressive performance unites Japanese culture and energy. Their trademark is the perfect symbiosis of traditional craftsmanship and modern entertainment that delights audiences of all ages. The drummers of KOKUBU are not only virtuosos on their instruments, but also masters of staging, creating a magical atmosphere with spectacular choreography and impressive lighting effects.

Two large O-Daiko drums are used to give the group an even more impressive performance. An athlete works their strings with two massive sticks as thick as his forearm. Delicate flute tones form the counterpart. Their Far Eastern sound is immediately enchanting. The result is music that seems magical to Europeans. Each piece is preceded by a short introduction to aid understanding of this artistry, which is deeply rooted in ancient tradition. It explains (in German) the meaning of each song. These are, for example, about the oneness of body and mind, the joy of life, nature, the power of the seasons or the belief "Go forward without looking back". Masamitsu Takasaki, world champion of the three-stringed plucked instrument tsugaru-shamisen, and Karin Toyama, who will play the koto - a plucked instrument similar to our zitten - will also ensure this.
