A tribute to reading: Do books make you happy? The members of a circle of readers on a fictitious North Sea island love literature: from Irish novels to horror stories and high literature, the range is wide. Cleaner and beach chair renter Sandra Malien also knows and loves novels. When she joins the reading circle, she surprises the others with a text by an unknown Danish author who describes the colors and landscapes of the north in a touching way. Everyone is deeply moved.

One day, Sandra Malien cleans the shelves of the bookshop and sorts the books by color. Everyone is sure: Sandra must really be an artist! Especially as she knows the famous publisher Meinhard Gerke, who is expecting an American bestselling author on the island. But Sandra's behavior remains puzzling; she behaves strangely and contradictorily. Gradually, her energetic façade begins to crack, revealing a huge problem that she has kept secret all her life and that nobody expected.
